waste management

its very much disheartening to see the rubbish /wastes littered all over our surroundings. invariably all the human habitations in rural, urban or metro is littered with filth all around. people talk much on waste management but not at all being practised. everyone wants to keep their house clean by throwing out their household waste anywhere outside their house. First of all a serious campaign is necessary to use the waste box by every individual. It should start from the school. The youngsters below the age group of below 25 years should be targeted first. a serious campaign is very imminent and every youngster should be made to realise the waste management of their household. Local administration should have an effective waste management team. even now one can see the towns like Karaikudi the streets are being sweeped by the local administration staff. A small step of a systematic effort of the govt. machinery can do wonders in this area. Waste is wealth. Processed waste can generate not only money but also power. small teams of NGOs from each town/village/city should be deputed to study waste management methods and their effective implementation. any amount of money spent on development of infrastructure for waste management will repay such investment within a very short spell. Every corporate should be allotted some area of their choice to be maintained litter free. Every School, colleges , Govt. establishments, corporates be held responsible for keeping their surrounding litter free. Necessary infrastructure should be developed under suitable govt. schemes to handle the wastes of each specified area. In our country resources are plenty for giving freebees to general public . a small portion of it is sufficient for successful waste management. Awareness should be created in every citizen which will automatically bring out the solution.

Scam in Granite mining in Madurai District

Much ado is being shown by media on the illegal mining of granite in various locations in Madurai District . Its going on there for more than a decade. What these people including the media were doing so long. were they waiting for these things to happen for ten plus years allowing this piracy to go until the deposits are looted to the brink? until the environ is destroyed fully? until the water sources are swiped out completely? It was told that no district official or media can dare to step into the area earmarked by this illegal miners. The damage reported to be 16000 crores is a tip of an iceberg. the damages caused to environment, water bodies, archeological treasures could not be valued in rupees. Actually the pirates are not the culprits. only those officials in the district administration who kept silent accepting the bribe, are the culprits. when a collector like Mr Sagayam can do something, why not people prior have done this. They were silent spectators to this crime accepting whatever alms were thrown at them. The criminals including those in the district administration know very well the loopholes in the law and how to go scotfree. For some time the hype will be there and it will set to rest in due course of time. How many scams this country has seen. Is any perpetrator is punished or his assets accumulated from this illegal action is confiscated? That gives them the courage to do such things. This is going in other districts like Dharmapuri, Pudukkottai,Erode etc also . Why there is no investigation by the district officials. may be still some more remain to be destroyed and they wait for completing the destruction for taking up the action. who is going to bell the cat? Werevgo?

Using plastic bags

Further to my report on 9th Dec, I wish to add up further. For the past five months I am in USA. I wonder how nicely the plastic bags are used. No one is teaching the public NOT TO USE plastic bags. Everyone is using only plastic bags . But not even a single bag can be seen littered in the street. Every piece is going for recycling and the waste management is so perfect that not a single piece is left out. Of course the population is small compared to India, but the awareness is superb. Unless the support of the public is established this problem will completely spoil the environment in our country within next ten years. Everyone should wake up.

Petrol prie rise in India

Every citizen of this country is experiencing the pinch of the increase in petrol price. Petrol is being used as a tool to fleece the public by the oil companies. Actually the crude price has fallen drastically and now it is remaining the lowest level. There is no reason to raise the price except to fleece the consumer. Time and again it's reported that the oil companies are incurring loss. Let it be a loss in petrol. But it is making bumper profits in other petroleum products . See the last balance sheet of any oil company. There is thousands of crores of profit shown every year. All the reports saying the oil companies are incurring loss is utter false statement.Ccorporates are making such false propaganda to prepare the ground for increasing the price and loot the public. This is being supported by the Govt. the central ministers confirm the false statement of oil companies in the press and further add up that the companies are not under their control. They further state that the prices are fixed by the companies based on market conditions. There is no one to save the consumer from these hawks. Poor lower middle class , small business people , auto drivers, small farmers do not have any defense against these swindlers and have to accept such things with a whisper . Further the oil companies create a demand for their product by not arranging the supply in time. What is being experienced throughout the state for the past three / four days is artificial . By putting the consumer at maximum hardship they make them accept the dictats. The Govts, both centre and state remain silent spectators to this scenario . here the central govt gets the wrath of the public whereas the state just by remaining silent gets it share of increased revenue thro increased sale tax collection . What a wonderful situation in this county? No one is prepared to talk about it excepting to make a lip service. Werevgo????
